Julia Hawkins
Acclaimed singer and actress Julia
Hawkins has performed extensively throughout the Midwest
and the South to rave reviews. A
native of southeastern Michigan, Julia holds a degree in
acting from Siena Heights University
and has appeared in numerous films and commercials.
But her great love is the stage with
more than 60 credits to her name.
Julia counts Elaine Stritch, Carol
Burnett, Phyllis DIller, Mary Cleere Haran, Judy Garland, Liza
Minnelli, Maureen McGovern and Nancy
LaMott among the great women who have influenced
her career. A stage veteran of over
30 years. some of her favorite roles include: Aunt Eller
(Oklahoma), Mrs. Meers (Thoroughly
Modern Millie), Nurse Ratched (One Flew Over The
Cuckoo’s Nest) and Madame De La
Grande Bouche (Beauty And The Beast). However, Julia is
equally passionate about cabaret, a
venue where she truly shines. Her unforgettably rich alto
voice and larger than life
personality have captivated audiences from Atlanta to Chicago.
Most recently, Julia has appeared at
Davenport’s Piano Bar in Chicago. She also lectures
occasionally on the history of cabaret.
Michael Evans’ compositions have been performed in the U.S. and Europe by Duo
46, soprano Tony Arnold, and Diagenesis. Michael is currently working on a new
musical, “30 Days of Pie,” which received its first workshop at Studio BE in
May 2014. Chicago MD/pianist credits include: Silk Road Rising, Chicago
Children’s Theatre, Red Theater, Underscore Theatre Company, Metropolis
Performing Arts Center (Arlington Heights). In addition, Michael is a company
member of Mercy Street Theater Company and Refuge Theatre Project, and also
accompanies numerous cabaret artists, including Jaii Beckley, Maureen SanDiego,
and Julia Hawkins.
