In 2011, I lost the original copies of my unpublished writings;
diaries, stories, poems and book reviews. Two years of hard work, in a moment
were vanished! I lost them in Red-line train on a Saturday evening! And
they’re gone like the memories of Alice! In these times, there was a specific
poem “One Art” by Elizabeth Bishop which helped me the most.
Last week, I saw the movie Still Alice, based on Lisa Genova’s
book. Surprisingly, Alice, in a particular scene reads “One Art” by Elizabeth
Bishop, a powerful poem which has helped many to deal with their losses!
The
art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so
many things seem filled with the intent
to
be lost that their loss is no disaster.
