semi-autobiographical novel written by Dai Sijie,
and published in 2000 in French and in English in 2001. It is the author's
first published novel. Its original French title is similar, "Balzac etla petite tailleuse chinoise". A film based on his novel
was released in 2002, directed by Dai himself."
